MSG Bite Me!
This is a diss to MSG. Monosodium glutamate is no mate of mine. I can't stand the stuff. It ruins every perfect night out and leaves me with a pounding headache and stomachache. It takes away all the enjoyment in a steaming bowl of pho, pan fried noodles and greasy dumplings!
I wish Asian restaurants would stop using that nonsense and let the food speak for themselves. Why are they so addicted to that junk? Is it the culinary version of crack? Crack is wack and MSG is not for me. Can I get an amen?
For all Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, etc. restaurants that have a MSG ban, thanks for trying to "keep it real" and thinking about the overall health of your clients. I commend your efforts and give you two thumbs up! For all the rest, those lazy, sloppy cooks that have an Accent addiction, I've got a different finger for you.

Repeat it Often Enough, and it Becomes Fact!
MSG as a food ingredient has been the subject of scientifically unsubstantiated health concerns.
A report from the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) compiled in 1995 on behalf of the FDA concluded that MSG was safe for most people when "eaten at customary levels."
However, it also said that, based on anecdotal reports, some people may have an MSG intolerance which causes “MSG symptom complex,” commonly referred to as "Chinese Restaurant Syndrome."
While many people believe that Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) is the cause of these symptoms, an association has NEVER been demonstrated under controlled conditions, even in studies with people who were convinced that they were sensitive to the compound.
Adequately controlling for experimental bias includes a placebo-controlled double-blinded experimental design and the application in capsules because of the strong and unique after-taste of glutamates.
Perhaps
But I'm wondering why you posted anonymously. It just makes you sound like a PR spin guy for the MSG producers.
My understanding
From what I know MSG is safe. It's naturally found in a type of seaweed. It's been known throughout time that cooking food in this seaweed broth makes food taste better. It was only a matter of time before science purified the compound, MSG. MSG is found in a lot of snack food.
As for you getting headaches and what not, perhaps you have some allergy to it. Or maybe you don't and it's psychosomatic.
Next time say "qing bei fang wei jing," which means Please don't add MSG.
