The savory stuffed pastry pockets called empanadas have long been one of the most searched for recipes on Whats4Eats. After a long time being intimidated by the enormity of the task, I have finally posted a recipe!
Empanadas are everywhere in the Latin world and there are countless variations. They originated in Spain, but the colonial period ensured their New World popularity. From Baja California in the north to the southernmost tip of Chile, empanadas are part of the local cuisine.
The recipe may look intimidating, but they’re actually very easy to make. I’ve tried to include some basic filling variations, but you can really fill them with whatever you like.
¡Buen provecho!
