Ingredients
Natural peanut butter — 1 cup
Water — 3/4 cup
Sambal oelek (chile paste) — 1 tablespoon
Brown sugar — 1 tablespoon
Salt — to taste
Directions
- Add all the ingredients to a large bowl and whisk together until smooth. Adjust seasoning to taste.
Sambal Kacang Notes and Variations
- Substitute coconut milk for some of the water if you like.
- Add 1/2 to 1 teaspoon shrimp paste.
- To give the sambal a tart edge, squeeze in the juice of one lemon or two limes. Or add 1 tablespoon tamarind paste.
