YESTERDAY AFTERNOON I DECIDED TO MAME SOME AREPAS. USED THE REGULAR RECEIPE WITH REGULAR CORN MEAL ANDLEFT OVER MASHED POTATOES. HAD TO ADD SOME POTATO FLAKES TILL THE CORN MEAL WAS THICK ENOUGH TO MAKE CAKES.
THE MASHED POTATOES ALREADY HAD FROZEN PEAS, BACON BITTS AND SOME DRIED GARLIC. MADE 8 CAKES IN THE FRYING PAN AND THEN COOKED THEM IN THE 350 OVEN FOR 15 MINUTES. FRAGRANCE WAS GREAT.
HAD ONE WITH CHEADER CHEESE AND MILD SALSO FOR DINNER AND IT WAS DELICIOUS, SO NOW I WON'T BE PAYING ABOUT 6 BUCKS FOR TWO AT THE LOCAL DELIE. SOME BLACK BEAN AND SOUR CREAM (OR YOGURT) WOULD HAVE BEEN DELICIOUS ALSO.
THE CAKES TURNED OUT CRUSTY OUTSIDE AND MELLOW INSIDE, A LITTLE CRUMBLY DUE TO THE CORN MEAL BEING COURSE.
JUST USE YOUR IMMAGINATION AND GO FOR IT. BEEN DOING IT FOR YEARS.
A POT OF WATER AND AWAY YOU GO--JUST MAKE IT TAST GOOD.
